A Practice Rooted in Curiosity
Meet Wendy Tompkins, MSW, LCSW, LAC
I’ve had the privilege of practicing therapy for more than 30 years. One of the many things those years have taught me is that there is always more to discover about our clients, about therapy, and about ourselves.
I do not believe therapy needs to be a rigid process or that one approach works for everyone. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities. Together we will determine what works most effectively for you. More recently, my work has led me to explore the mind-body connection and the value of learning to listen more closely to our own intuition.
At the heart of my approach is curiosity.
I have always enjoyed learning and the doors it continues to open. Being given the gift of sharing another’s journey through what is often their most difficult and painful experience has been an honor I do not take lightly. Discovering, exploring and finding paths that allow for the depth of the feelings, as well as the freedom of letting those feelings pass through us is an incredible journey worth taking.
While therapy can be a difficult process, I also believe there should be room for humor. Sometimes being able to laugh, reconnect with ourselves, and appreciate who we are is part of finding our way toward healing.
After all these years, the process of discovery is still what I love most about this work.
